Meet Our Founder: Rafael Sainz Skewes
The story of Lo Sereno began on the back of a motorcycle, when Rafael Sainz Skewes discovered the virgin shores of Troncones. For Rafael, a Mexico City native who spent 25 years in the corporate world after earning his MBA, it was love at first sight. Drawn to the magical energy of this enchanted meeting point between the mountains and the Pacific, he knew he had found his place in the world.
Driven by a philosophy of radical self-reliance and a deep love for nature, adventure, and mountaineering, Rafael spent 19 years envisioning the perfect excuse to transform his lifestyle and share this paradise with others. The result is Lo Sereno—a labor of love built upon what Rafael calls "barefoot luxury."
As an intrepid traveler who paradoxically views himself as a cautious low risk-taker, Rafael’s life philosophy is defined by balancing extremes: fear and courage, clean lines and bohemian spirit. For him, hospitality became the ultimate journey toward inner peace. Lo Sereno is the manifestation of that journey—a place born of destiny, designed to help you pause, connect with nature, and enjoy the present moment.
