Hotels in Troncones, Mexico

Where the Pacific slows everything down.

A small village on the Pacific

Troncones sits on a quiet stretch of Guerrero coastline, 20 minutes north of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. There is no town center, no commercial strip — the road ends at the beach. The village has a long left-hand surf break, warm water, and the kind of silence that takes a day to settle into.

It is not the Mexico of resort corridors. People come to Troncones because they want the Pacific without the performance.

Lo Sereno Casa de Playa

Ten suites. One beach. Nothing between you and the water.

Lo Sereno is Troncones' only boutique hotel, designed by Dutch architect René Müller around a 200-year-old ceiba tree that was already there when he arrived. Ten suites open directly onto the beach. The pool ends where the Pacific begins.

The kitchen runs an open fire and a daily catch. The ceviche depends on what came in that morning. Michelin Key, Design Hotels, Tablet Hotels. The recognitions arrived later. The house came first.

What brings people here

Surf

A left-hand point break that works October through April, and a beach break that runs all year. The waves are consistent and, by Pacific standards, uncrowded.

Ocean & Coast

Warm Pacific water, calm mornings, and a beach that stretches long enough to walk for an hour without reaching the end. Snorkeling, sport fishing, and sunset cruises by private boat.

Stillness

Troncones has no nightclubs, no resort corridor, no strangers at the next lounge chair. The pool and the hammock are equally valid answers to the question of what to do here.

When to visit

The dry season runs November through May — clear skies, warm Pacific water, and the most consistent surf conditions. December through March is the peak: ideal weather, excellent fishing, and the sea at its calmest.

June through October brings the rainy season. Afternoons can be wet, the surf grows, and the village empties. If you want Troncones without the rest of the world, this is when to come.

Getting here

By air: Fly into Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport (ZIH). Direct flights from Mexico City (under 1 hour), and connections from the US through major hubs.

From Mexico City by road: 6–7 hours via the 200-D highway. The drive passes through the Sierra Madre del Sur and arrives at the coast as the road meets the ocean.
